Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Grohl Set for Silverlake Conservatory 25th Anniversary Benefit

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Grohl and Vince Staples will perform at the Hollywood Palladium on October 17 for a benefit celebrating the Silverlake Conservatory of Music’s 25th anniversary.

Comedian Marc Maron will host the Los Angeles event, which will raise money for the nonprofit music school’s educational programming and scholarships. The anniversary celebration opens the organization’s annual fundraiser to a broader audience, expanding beyond its customary private benefit dinner.

The concert supports an organization co-founded by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Michael “Flea” Balzary and musician Keith “Tree” Barry in 2001, with help from their longtime friend Peter Weiss. The founders established the conservatory after cuts to arts education in Los Angeles public schools, seeking to give students another avenue to study music.

Today, the school provides music lessons to more than 900 students each week. Its scholarship program serves more than 200 students whose families cannot afford lessons, covering instruction, instruments, supplies, ensemble classes and events. The annual benefit typically aims to generate the $1.5 million needed to sustain a year of music programming.
